Students at Gangwon Provincial College put their professional skills to use by giving back to local seniors. This initiative was organized as part of the university's Innovation Support Project, designed to bridge classroom vocational education directly with meaningful community service.
On October second, they visited a community festival for seniors hosted by the Jumunjin Small Spring Association. The department took part in the event to practice a job-linked volunteering model, sharing their craft beyond campus borders.
The students handed out freshly baked cookie choux pastries and ran a coffee truck at the event. Ahead of the festival, students handcrafted 800 cookie choux in their training labs, taking charge of the entire process from dough preparation and baking to filling and packaging.
They served carefully brewed hot coffee and beverages, filling the venue with warmth. By putting their barista and extraction training into practice on site, the students delivered heartfelt warmth and professional care to the visiting elders.
These meaningful efforts to connect learning with heartfelt volunteer service will continue in the future. The Department of Barista and Patisserie plans to steadily expand its job-linked outreach programs, ensuring student expertise creates lasting positive impacts across Gangwon State.
