Gangwon State expanded cooperation with Alberta, Canada, in the biohealth sector. On September 22, the state met with Alberta Deputy Minister Dale McFee at WMIT, building on Alberta Health Minister Justin Wright's earlier visit to Wonju.
It convened the 2026 Gangwon-Alberta Future Industries Cooperation Roundtable. Building on their 50-year sisterhood, both regions expanded past hydrogen and ICT agendas to focus directly on biohealth and digital industries.
The state shared its leading future healthcare policies, including A I healthcare and digital twins. Gangwon presented its flagship AI healthcare and medical AX policies, while Alberta shared its provincial biohealth vision for joint research.
Local companies showcased A I hearing tests and smart mattresses for the North American market. Audiso pitched its AI hearing test kiosk 'WithHear,' while NeoAble presented its bedsore-prevention smart mattress 'NEOX' for North American entry.
The Alberta delegation toured Wonju, and the province pledged to help companies expand overseas. The delegation inspected Korea's largest medical device cluster at WMIT, as Gangwon pledged full support for local firms entering Canadian markets.
