Gangwon State is proactively working to ensure zero gaps in pet care throughout the Korean Thanksgiving holiday. TO ensure that local residents can enjoy a safe and worry-free holiday without worrying about their pets, the state government is fully committed to operating seamless quarantine and care systems.
29 emergency animal hospitals and 98 contracted facilities will operate across Gangwon State. Emergency veterinary clinics will operate across 9 cities and counties-including Chuncheon, Wonju, and Gangneung-while 98 licensed pet-boarding facilities will open across 15 municipalities. Detailed operating schedules and availability can be easily checked on the official websites of Gangwon State and local city and county governments.
A companion animal campaign will also be held to prevent pets from being lost or abandoned and promote proper pet etiquette. Alongside medical support, this companion campaign will continue through the end of the holiday to prevent pet abandonment and raise awareness of proper pet etiquette.
Public awareness campaigns promoting responsible etiquette will be held in areas with clusters of traditional markets and large supermarkets. In particular, municipal officials and honorary animal protection inspectors will conduct on-site promotional activities in high-traffic areas such as traditional markets and large supermarkets to encourage active public participation.
Park Yu-jin, head of the division, said every effort will be made for mature pet culture. He emphasized, "As Chuseok is a time spent with family, we will ensure that our beloved pets are safely cared for with utmost attention, and we will do our utmost to foster a mature pet culture where both pet owners and non-pet owners mutually respect one another."
