Gangwon State officially launched a support council to help foreign residents settle in and integrate. Vice Governor for Administration Yeo Jung-hyup presided over the inaugural council meeting on September 10, launching the full-scale support system.
Local experts and foreign residents will work together to connect tailored support policies more effectively. The council consisted of 10 members, including the Vice Governor, bureau directors, experts, and foreign residents, reflecting field voices in policies.
At its first meeting, the council reviewed outstanding local settlement cases and selected foreigner-friendly institutions. Gangwon State worked to overcome regional depopulation by reviewing best practices and foreigner-friendly institutions through its newly launched public contest.
By reflecting diverse voices from the community, Gangwon State is building a local society that thrives alongside foreign residents. The state also planned to operate working-level consultative bodies across four sectors-education, economy, daily life, and safety-to tackle inter-agency tasks.
